San Juan Sheriff(Moab Utah) A body was recovered around 10:30 a.m. Saturday Morning  by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies and the National Park Service on the Colorado River. The body was discovered near river mile marker 15, river right, near the mouth of Monument Basin. The body is believed to be that of Casey Menuey age 33 of Moab, Utah, who went missing on 06/06/2014 after being separated from his rafting party at Lathrop Canyon, 7 miles upriver. Mr. Menuey was not wearing a life preserver at the time he disappeared and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. The body will be transported to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office in SLC for identification and examination.
We would like to thank the great efforts of the National Parks Service, the Department of Public Safety, and Utah State Parks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Casey Menuey.
