Recapture Ride Defendants Due in Court Today

ATV ProtestSALT LAKE CITY Five Utah residents, charged in Federal Court for taking part in an ATV protest ride are scheduled to make their first court appearance Friday. The protesters say the ride was designed to call attention to what they call the federal government’s overreach on control of public lands. The five men are each facing two misdemeanor charges of conspiracy and illegal use of all-terrain vehicles. The five charged are: San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman, blogger Monte Wells of Monticello, Jay Redd of Santa Clara, Shane Marian of Monticello and Franklin Holliday of Blanding.
