(Moab Utah)- Three candidates, who all opposed the county joining the 7 county coalition of governments, won seats on the Grand County Council, defeating three candidates who were endorsed by the Grand County Republican party. IN the at large seat, Mary McGhann defeated incumbent Jim Nyland, 54 to 46 percent. In District 1, a former County Council Member, Chris Baird defeated Challenger Kim Call, 54 to 45 per cent. In District 3, Jaylynn Hawks defeated Manuel Torres, 57 to 43 per cent. IN the County Clerk-Auditor’s race, Incumbent Dianne Carrol won a narrow victory over Zachariah Levine, by only a three vote margin. IN the County treasurer’s Race, Chris Kauffman won. The County Clerks’ race will have to wait until the official vote canvass is held in two weeks. The County Clerk’s office reports that 74 per cent of county voters returned ballots in the mail in vote.
