Voting By Mail Boosts Turnout

(Salt Lake City, UT) Voting by mail is boosting turnout for primary voting in Salt Lake County.  State elections officials say primary voting in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District saw a 40% turnout of registered Republicans.  Emery and Carbon counties did not vote by mail and saw 26 and 29% turnout, respectively.

Man Injured In Motorcycle Hit-And-Run

(Salt Lake City, UT) A man is critically injured after being hit by a motorcycle in South Salt Lake.  Police cite witnesses who say the motorcyclist hit the victim and didn’t stop at 3300 South and 900 West at around midnight.  Police say they only know the male driver was riding a bullet-style motorcycle.

Pedestrian Killed On Exit Ramp

(Salt Lake City, UT) A pedestrian is dead after getting hit on the I-15 northbound exit at 600 South.  Police say the woman was hit crossing the street by a vehicle exiting the freeway at around 6:30 this morning.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Students Hurt By Exploding Device

(Taylorsville, UT) At least four Taylorsville High School students have minor injuries from an explosion of an electric device in a student’s backpack.  The students were treated and sent back to class after the incident this morning.  Officials haven’t said what the device was.

Tank Hollow Fire Spreads To 4,200 Acres

(Spanish Fork, UT) Damage from the 3 week old Tank Hollow Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon is now estimated to be close to 4200.  Officials say the lightening-caused fire is still held at about 20% containment.  They say shifting winds are complicating efforts.
