Lawmakers Aims To Strip Cities Of Authority To Protect Drinking Water

(Salt Lake City, UT) A new bill could strip Utah cities of their authority to regulate land use in areas where the get their drinking water.  Republican State Representative Mike Noel says the law currently in place is too restrictive for property owners.  His proposal would place that responsibility on Department of Environmental Quality to ensure drinking water remains safe.  However, officials for DEQ says they do not have the resources needed to handle that task.
