(Grand-San Juan Counties)-Heavy rains and pea to penny sized hail pelted portions of Grand and San Juan Counties yesterday afternoon and early evening. Near an inch of rain was reported at Canyonlands Airport with a third of an inch reported in Moab. 7 Miles north of Monticello, a 2 inch accumulation of hail was reported near the top of Peters Hill, along highway 191. 3 to 4 feet of water accumulated in low ling area in the area. A 2 inch rainfall was reported on the north side of Abajo Mountain and in the Newspaper Rock and Needles section of Canyonlands. At Dead horse Point State Park, dine size hail and a half inch of rainfall was reported. IN arches national Park, Rangers assisted park visitors in leaving when heavy rains began causing waterfalls on the Rock ledge above the entrance roadway and flowing across the road. Pack Creek Road in the Lasals was closed for a while in the afternoon because of flash flooding.
