June 10, 2015

ATV(Moab Utah) Utah Democratic State Representative Brad King, who represents part of Grand County, met with area residents yesterday afternoon in packed Moab City Council Chambers. County Councilmember Mary McGann said she invited King to meet after she received numerous complaints about ATV noise n city and county streets, recently.  At issue is a new Utah State Law that allows street legal ATV’s and UTV’s to operate on state highways and city county streets. Over 20 residents spoke in the public meeting, and while some complained about noise, others talked about tourism benefits of wheeled recreation. A common threat is most of the comments from all sides was increased enforcement of the laws and responsible operation. Representative King, at the close of the meeting, brought political reality to the table.

The Democratic lawmaker added that there is virtually no chance of rolling back the entire state atv-utv street law…

He said a similar effort last year only saw support from some Wasatch front lawmakers, but no rural support.
